About 1.2 million people were playing Fortnite at 5:54am UK time on 3 November 2026. Fortnite.gg showed 1,212,230 players and Tracker Network showed 1,235,294 at almost the same moment. That is a quiet early-morning figure. On a normal evening, daily peaks usually reach between 2 million and 3 million, and big events can push the count much higher.
Epic Games does not publish one official “players right now” counter. Every number below comes from third-party trackers that read Epic’s public data, so treat them as close estimates, not official figures.
Fortnite player count at a glance

Fortnite player count today: what each tracker shows
Different trackers count slightly different things, so the numbers rarely match exactly. Here is what the main ones showed on 3 November 2026.
| Tracker | Number shown | What it measures |
|---|---|---|
| Fortnite.gg | 1,212,230 | Players online right now, with mode and island splits |
| Tracker Network | 1,235,294 | Currently online (page updated about 13 minutes earlier). 24-hour peak: 1,337,095 |
| Endgame Tools | 3,170,883 | Peak connected players in the last hour on 2 Nov, including 2,139,685 in a match |
Notice that Endgame Tools looks far higher. That is not a mistake. It reports the best moment of an hour on a busy Monday, not the count at one instant on a quiet morning.
What “playing Fortnite” actually means
Headlines mix up several different measures. This is the quick guide to reading them correctly.
| Term | Meaning | Who reports it |
|---|---|---|
| Concurrent players (CCU) | People connected at the same moment, including those in lobbies | Trackers |
| In-match players | People actually in a game, not in menus | Fortnite.gg, Endgame Tools |
| Peak concurrent | Highest count in a set period, such as a day or all time | Trackers, and Epic for big events |
| Daily active users (DAU) | Different people who played at least once in a day | Epic, only at milestones |
| Monthly active users (MAU) | Different people who played at least once in a month | Mostly third-party estimates |
| Registered accounts | Every account ever created, including unused ones | Epic (650 million+, late 2023) |
Two mistakes come up again and again. First, 650 million registered accounts is not the number of people playing. Second, a 24-hour peak is the busiest moment of the day, not the number of different people who played.
Where the live numbers come from
Trackers read player counts that Epic shows publicly for each mode and island on its Discover screen and data feeds. They add these up and display the total. Sites differ in how often they collect the data and which modes they include, which is why figures never line up perfectly.
Be careful with sites that “model” the number from Google Trends or Steam data. Fortnite is not on Steam, so any Steam-based figure for it is meaningless.
Epic modes versus creator islands
Around 44% of players at the time of the snapshot were in creator-made islands, not Epic’s own modes. That shows how much of Fortnite now runs on player-built content.
Where Fortnite players were on 3 Nov 2026
Epic-made modes: 675.9K (55.8%)
Creator islands: 536.3K (44.2%)
Total: 1,212,230 players. Source: Fortnite.gg snapshot.
Streaming helps feed those crowds. Stars such as Ninja turned Fortnite into a full-time career, and Pokimane built part of her huge audience around it. When a big streamer goes live during an event, the player count often follows.
Fortnite player count by game mode
Battle Royale modes lead, but Reload and Fortnite OG still draw tens of thousands of players. These are early-morning numbers, so expect them to be much bigger in the evening.

Best time to see a high Fortnite player count (UK time)
Counts climb when Europe’s evening overlaps with North America’s afternoon. ActivePlayer puts the usual peak around 19:00 UTC. The UK is on GMT until the end of March, so that is 7pm for UK players.
| Time (UK, GMT) | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Early morning (before 8am) | Lowest counts of the day, like the 5:54am snapshot above |
| Afternoon | Rising as the US wakes up |
| 5pm to 8pm | Usual daily peak |
| Weekends | Higher than weekdays |
The weekend effect shows up in the data. Fortnite.gg’s day-of-week averages put Sunday at 1,204,765 players and Tuesday at 1,030,771. If you check at a different hour from someone else, you will see a different number, and neither of you is wrong. Fortnite all-time player count records
The record for most players online at once is more than 14 million, set during the Remix: The Finale concert on 30 November 2024. Fortnite.gg lists the peak as 14,343,880. Epic’s biggest single-day total is separate: 44.7 million different players on the launch day of Fortnite OG in November 2023.

Blue bars: figures backed by Epic statements or trade reports. Orange bars: tracker estimates. Pirate Shop reports vary between “nearly 5 million” and “over 5 million”, so treat that figure as approximate.
| Date | Event | Figure | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apr 2020 | Travis Scott concert | 12.3 million | Players at once |
| 4 Nov 2023 | Fortnite OG launch | 6,172,463 | Players at once (Fortnite.gg estimate) |
| 4–5 Nov 2023 | Fortnite OG launch day | 44.7 million+ | Different players in one day (Epic) |
| 30 Nov 2024 | Remix: The Finale | 14.3 million+ | Players at once (Epic) |
| 1 Nov 2026 | Pirate Shop promotion | ~5 million | Players at once (tracker and news reports) |
Fortnite player count in 2026, month by month
Monthly peaks swing a lot because events and new seasons cause short, sharp spikes. June and August 2026 stand out far above the rest.
Highest player count each month in 2026 (Tracker Network)
These are peak concurrent counts from a third-party tracker, not unique players. Orange bars mark the two event-driven spikes.
How many people play Fortnite each month?
Third-party estimates put monthly active users at roughly 110 to 120 million in early 2026. Epic has not published an official current figure. In June 2026, Epic-linked reporting said creator-made experiences reached more than 75 million monthly players, but that covers creator content only, so do not read it as Fortnite’s full audience.
Is Fortnite dying in 2026?
No. The numbers do not support that. Daily peaks in late October ran from about 2 million to 3 million players, and a promotion on 1 November pushed the count close to 5 million. The game is quieter than its 2023 and 2024 record highs, and some analysts describe weaker engagement than before. But that is a fall from extraordinary peaks, not a collapse.
Player counts by platform and country
There is no reliable public split by PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Switch or mobile, and no live count by country. Epic does not publish them, and the trackers cannot see them. Be wary of any site that shows exact percentages.
Can you compare Fortnite with Roblox or Steam games?
Only with great care. Steam charts only count Steam players, and Fortnite is not on Steam. Roblox, Minecraft and Warzone all measure players in their own ways, so a fair comparison needs the same metric, the same time window and the same platforms. Without that, a side-by-side number is misleading. Minecraft is a good example of a game with a huge, creative community that is counted very differently; our Minecraft build ideas guide shows how much players create there. Open-world games are another case: the fastest cars in GTA 5 belong to a game whose audience is tracked on different platforms again.
How to check Fortnite’s player count and server status yourself
- Open Fortnite.gg or Tracker Network for a quick “online now” figure.
- Note the time and time zone, and check whether the site shows online players or in-match players.
- Compare tracker numbers only if they measure the same thing.
- If the count drops suddenly, look at Epic’s status page before assuming something is wrong. Maintenance and outages briefly cut the totals.
Never enter your Epic login on a “player count” site. Real trackers do not need it.
